-Nick invites Daisy to the tea party Gatsby planned, but told her she shouldn't bring Tom
-Gatsby seems worn out since Daisy will be attending
- awkward tea party
- Both Daisy and Gatsby are embarrassed seeing each other

Few minutes into the conversation Gatsby and Daisy are having a lively conversation
"Daisy's face was smeared with tears and when I came in she jumped and began wiping it with her handkerchief before a mirror. But there was a change in Gatsby was simply confounding. He literally glowed..." (Fitzgerald 94).

When Daisy was crying, she realized she still had a lot of love for Gatsby. She is grieving for the loss of romance she never got. ( remembers how her parents kept her away from saying goodbye to Gatsby)

Gatsby
-was in the drug and oil business
-wants to show around house to Daisy

weather:
-heavy rain pour once Daisy appeared
-drizzled when there was little conversation
- sun shined after Gatsby and Daisy loss the tension amongst each other, "There were twinkle-bells of
sunshine in the room." (when Nick re-enters the room)

Nick seems to be the “wing-man” for Gatsby. As Gatsby was being a “chicken” and wanting to back out of the tea party (which he set up himself), Nick just wanted him to stop being a “coward” and talk to Daisy. Nick tries his best to let Daisy and Gatsby alone so they can talk out whatever they’d like. However it seems as though Gatsby wants him to stay by his side.
