*Arab Spring- a series of anti-government protests, uprising and armed rebellion
"Mad-man" - Wilson was going through such pain, finding out about his wife's affair and her death
Vocabulary
adventitious - happening/carried on according to chance rather than design or inherent nature
pasquinade - a satire or lampoon (originally displayed/delivered in a public place)
ulster - piece of clothing, loose overcoat of rough cloth
procession - a number of people or vehicle moving forward in an orderly fashion
incessant - continuing without pause or interruption
pandered -gratify or indulge
-Gatsby's father seems in awe with his son's accomplishments
When Gatsby gained all the wealth he worked for, he was very distant with everyone. People only pretended to like him because he practically had everything. When Nick was inviting people to attend Gatsby's funeral, they would act as though they cared, but they truly didn't.
- Meyer Wolfsheim claims to have "made" Gatsby to be a wealthy man
postman shows up, not even those who Gatsby knew
Nick is reflecting on his life
Nick feels like a fish out of water, wants to go back home
-wrapping things up with people he had unfinished business with
-Jordan was "engaged" to another man
-Tom set Gatsby up, he didn't bother calling police to report wilson who was enraged with a revolver
-Gatsby's dream was in the past
"American Dream" if you try harder, everything will be yours
no matter how much we try to change to happen, we should just ride with the current because it's bigger than ours
green light- Gatsby was trying to reach Daisy (everything he wants)
