The two girls and Jordan talked about how Gatsby "killed a man once." They also said he was a German spy during the war— However he was in the American army. Gatsby is so mysterious because he doesn’t open up to anyone. He also doesn’t address rumors and continues to let people talk amongst themselves.

What does Nick call the man in Gatsby's library?

Nick calls the man in Gatsby’s library “stout, middle-aged man with owl-eyed spectacles...” Later on in the chapter, he proceeds to call him “Owl Eyes.”
