Give Us A Hand

In F451, the description of Granger's grandfather that left an impression for me is how our actions will be remembered by those who knew us when we pass. What is our purpose in life? It's up to the person to pave their path. Granger deeply misses his grandfather, but never cries for him, he only cries "for the things he did." He cries for the legacy left behind that will never get to be made by his grandfather. This kind hearted man was a sculptor who carved wood, made jokes, cleaned up slum, helped pigeons/doves, etc. Because of these deeds, his grandson (Granger) looks up to him for the things he did. "Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said." In the world, when a person passes, you get his with memories you had with them. These are the impressions they left on you. Death is inevitable and the actions we do while we are living will end up sticking to those who do remember you.
