- the world of Fahrenheit 451 is dark and gloomy (opener)
ex. Mildred overdoses and the medic said that almost every night someone tries to kill themselves

- Theme: self-determination/ Montag vs. Society

- need 2-4 pieces of evidences to build body paragraphs around to bring the reader into thinking

- Firefighters getting framed, destruction

- lack of knowledge throughout the book

- Ignorance= darkness, enlightenment
