I Know This Guy

After reading Dr.Preston's essay on Fahrenheit 451, I found it very eye opening. He mentions how beneficial it is to reread books. You may think, "Why should I read something all over again?" Because you can interpret the piece of literature differently each time. Something I found intriguing was, "It's in Montag's hands. He literally takes his life into his own hands." Montag is the embodiment of change. He goes from someone who just goes about his life following rules to becoming a non-conformist, seeking for answers in the "dystopian" society. I now realize how F451 isn't really all about censorship, but a variety of other things. Being able to find out your true self through trial and error can be liberating. Always abiding by the rules can make life seem so dull. This book also ties in with how corrupt the government can be.
