So far the story "Young Goodman Brown" radiates an eerie feeling since it refers to the devil and walking in the woods right before darkness engulfs a village in Salem. It seems as if Goodman Brown is paranoid whilst he walks into the woods where danger lurks. Considering the fact that it is dusk, Goodman's mind begins to formulate thoughts that cause him to be fearful of his surroundings. Who knows what can happen to him during this hour of day? I noticed that there is an allusion about the Garden of Eden since a serpent is brought up. The serpent in the story about the Garden of Eden is a representation of the devil and deception. In the story of Young Goodman Brown, he imagines a black snake slithering around as he makes his way through the forest with hardly any light left in the day.
