When the author is in the room, I think I do read and/or discuss the text differently because I feel intimidated as to what their reaction will be. I feel the need to have a cultivated response or reaction to their writing. After listening to the reading I was able to make notes about how essays don't necessarily have to follow the five paragraph format and have the thesis included in its first body paragraph, etc. Although I still do think they are one of the most time consuming and stressful tasks to get done when I still have work for other classes to finish.
