communication strategies of a hacker

diction- words author uses
syntax- way author arranges words
tone- author's attitude toward the audience, the topic or characters

diction and syntax are not arguable; they are right on the page

2 thing about diction:
- is it low or high, formal or informal
-who is it intended to reach

tone- passionate, caring, annoyed, frustrated

"The Mentor's" use of diction, syntax, and tone effectively convey his message by appealing to a variety of audiences. His use of diction can be understood by the younger audience such as an elementary student. Although he does include sophisticated words for teens and the older audience to understand. So the diction is being switched from formal to informal, vice versa. The tone that is clear throughout the writing is passion, frustration and annoyance. He repeats phrases such as "they're all alike" to add an effect of juxtaposition since the author ends his essay with "after all, we're all alike."
