Today I Interviewed An Expert!

In class, I was fortunate enough to witness a skype call with Cory Doctorow. Cory is a 48 year-old British-Canadian who is a science fiction author, activist, journalist and blogger. He revealed that he didn't have a degree which just shows how success can be gained through various ways. Cory brought up popular media in the world today such as TikTok, Instagram, etc. He stated people on the apps gain fame with their "weird ideas." Technology has become so advanced compared to 20 years ago and it has allowed people to reach out to others in the world and make themselves known. What I found interesting was how corporations to this day but competitors in order to reduce competition.  When certain businesses are  controlled or narrowed down to a certain amount, problems occur amongst those who work under the company. Cory stated how talent agencies have grown down in size causing scriptwriters to become infuriated since it’s tough to get scouted. Due to these issues, many have gone on strikes to fight for better treatment.
