Dark Patterns manipulate you to purchase something that catches your attention due to the deal being offered
When roaming around on a website you may be informed, "Sale ending soon! Only two left! This is a hot item." It makes you think, "Oh no! If I don't buy this, I won't get it for a good price once the sale ends!" This a tactic is used by big companies such as Ebay, Amazon and other online stores to lure you into buying a product.
Before online shopping was common, there were infomercials. As a child who was always attached to the TV, I remember watching infomercials that would say "contact this number to purchase now!" A certain infomercial I remember was the Shamwow.
