Literary Analysis #2
1. What drew me to the book Siddhartha is the idea of enlightenment within oneself. As human beings, we tend to become blinded with materialistic things in life which leads to having the need to have everything in life. I expected that he will embark on a journey where to basically be "rebirthed" into a wiser and better person. While reading Siddhartha, I hoped to experience how the journey toward enlightenment would affect Siddhartha and his thoughts on life. I expected him to overcome the obstacles that came his way such as temptation.
2. I continued to read past the first ten pages because the idea of searching for enlightenment seemed interesting. I felt as though if I continued to read then I'll learn a valuable life lesson. When I learn about valuable life lessons through a book, I usually try and apply it to my life so I don't experience the consequences the protagonist in the story had to face.
3. My reading habits tend to differ depending on what book I read. If I find a book that truly does interest me, I am intrigued and continue to read it for as long as I want. Although if it is a book that is assigned to me and I'm not read fascinated by it, I set a specific amount of pages I need to read daily so I finish it by a certain date. For example, if I am reading a 200 page book, I'll read 50 pages per day in order to finish in a total of four days. I tend to read books more during the night since it helps soothe me to sleep, but also because I'm not really disturbed during that time of day.
